Your Name: Craig & Melinda Sadrovitz
Brand Name: Candeo Colors
Where are you from? Collegeville, Pennsylvania (near Philadelphia, PA), USA
When have you started? Feb. 2012

Is there  a story behind the name of your brand?  The word Candeo is latin, and means "to shine, sparkle, or glow" which represents our polishes very well :)  The chameleon is in our logo because they are very bright and can change many colors. Plus, they are very funny!
How many polishes/collections have you created? We have 3 official collections and 33 polishes available to buy. We have made many more.  Some were discontinued and some were unique creations for prizes and giveaways.

Is there a special polish/collection? Why?  Our current collection, the Aruba collection is very special. It the the largest we have made (8 colors) and is dedicated to Craig's grandmother who travels to Aruba 4-5 times a year for 30 years. The names are all in Papiamento, which is the most widely spoken language in Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao.

Where you a polish addicted before starting making polishes?  Yes!  I have a collection of approximately 200 polishes and bought many indie brands before making my own. Even though I make my own, I still buy and wear many others as well :)

Did you have a blog before making polishes or have you started one after? We started one very recently with our new site. The process of learning how to make good polish with glitter that doesn't bleed or sink was challenging. We went from 50 bottles a month to 1000 or more. It was quite difficult!  We hope to share some of the experience with others and offer a view into what it is like to make polish.

Whats your favorite thing about making polishes?  Inventing new colors!  Each color we sell took 5-10 tries before it was just right. We have many bottles that no one ever sees, because they have to be perfect before we release them.  But it is very exciting when you get a good color and see how excited people are for you to sell it.  That is the most fun.

Can you tell us a curious thing that has happened to you with some client or something funny? We had someone contact us to buy a large amount of polish. Not many bottles, but one very large bottle.  He wanted to paint his guitar like this:

We could not provide enough to do it, but it was very funny!

Is there anything you'd Like to share:  We're very honored by all the kind things that our customers say and all the support. We hope that everyone who buys our polish will enjoy it and share it with friends.  Right now we make it in our spare time, but maybe one day it will be a full time job. The community of people who make, sell, and buy indie polishes are very special. I think it's important to support small businesses because you can make a big difference in someones life. Big companies can make polish that does not cost a lot, but I think the indie brands are special.

Fully Loaded

Fully Loaded is a gorgeous glitter top coat with a fine holographic shimmer and multi size and shape glitters in black, white and holo. I applied only one coat over a grey polish to achieve this outcome. Dries super fast and the glitters spread nice and evenly.
O Fully Loaded é um top coat glitter com um fino e discreto efeito holográfico e glitters pequenos e médios em tons preto e branco matte e holo.  Apliquei apenas uma camada para este efeito. Os glitters espalham-se bem e secou relativamente rápido.

Joker

Joker is a glitter top coat filled with several sized glitters in shades of blue and purple in a clear base. It is really something. I applied two coats for this outcome. Drying time is quiete fast and the glitters spread evenly in the application.
O Joker é um Glitter Top Coat repleto de glitters de vários tamanhos em vários tons de azul e roxo. Apliquei duas camadas para este efeito. Ambas as camadas secaram com relativa facilidade e a aplicação foi pacifica.

Orchid

Orchid is a gelly glitter polish. The base is a deep medium pink gelly filled with several sized glitters in shades of pink, purple, black and silver.  I applied two coats over Purple Professional Pink nr.3.
